UK Xbox 360 Gamers Snap Up Halo 3 October 05, 2007

It seems Halo 3’s big launch, and its record-smashing first 24-hours, is living up to the hype with gamers worldwide and in the UK.

In the first four days, 460,000 UK gamers plumped for a copy of the Master Chief’s final farewell which is about a third of all UK Xbox 360 owners.

Of course, some would claim that 1-in-3 is hardly startling for the most hyped game of all time but it’s not bad for four days and you can be sure that Christmas stockings boasting the game will be everywhere come the Silly Season.

Overall, Halo 3 has notched up around $300m (£147m) in sales for its first week and around 2.7 million gamers have since played it via Xbox LIVE. More importantly for Microsoft, sales of the 360 console have doubled worldwide on a weekly basis since launch.-Martin Lynch
