hauppage wintv 1400.jpg According to Hauppauge, makers of every kind of PC/laptop TV tuner, adding TV to your laptop couldn’t be easier than with its new WinTV HVR-1400, which slots into the ExpressCard port.

The HVR-1400 is an analogue/digital TV tuner that supports lappies running Windows XP, Windows XP Media Center Edition and Windows Vista.

The software includes the WinTV 6 viewing software and SoftPVR for scheduling and recording programmes - 1GB of disk space = 1 hour of TV. Installation involves slotting in the card, installing the drivers and attaching an aerial.

Certainly sounds fairly idiot-proof. Out now, it costs £80. –Martin Lynch

That’s the verdict from the 2007 T3 Gadget Awards where the iPod was elevated to being the greatest gadget of all time. It’s a bold claim and, not withstanding the iPod’s massive commercial success, it’s one that’s bound to generate the odd spot of verbal jousting and maybe even a bout of fisticuffs. Apple scooped six awards in all.

Personally, I think the iPod deserves to be in the Top 5, but doesn’t trump the Sony Walkman for me. Probably an age thing. The runners up in the category of the best gadget of all time were Sky+, the PS2, Nintendo Gameboy and the humble Walkman.

Unsurprisingly, the iPhone scooped the award for the most anticipated product launch of 2008. The Xbox 360 romped home as the gaming gadget of the 2007, thanks to the addition the external HD DVD drive, new HDD version, HDMI and yummy price cuts.

So, iPod the greatest ever? Discuss.-Martin Lynch
