ipod listener.jpg Competition is hotting up in the download space [about bloody time] because Apple is now selling yummy DRM-free albums - at least some - for £7.99 - down from £9.99.

This brings the pricing into line with existing DRM-screwed downloads and reports suggest that the 99p downloads of single DRM-free tracks will be hacked to 79p – it’s already started with some. It looks like the recent moves in the music download space by the likes of Amazon, Universal and HMV, have finally inspired some concern at Apple - all of which is good for consumers.

If DRM-free tunes are going to be priced the same as DRM-screwed versions, I wonder what other price drops we can expect?

Apple has yet to officially confirm any of this but just have a hunt around on iTunes and see what you can see. Let me know-Martin Lynch
