You can never have too much storage. EDGE Tech in the US is a true believer though, announcing the DiskGO USB 2.0 Flash Drive with an impressive 32GB of storage.

I thought I was doing OK with a 4GB stick but now I’m feeling somewhat…deflated. In real terms, that’s more than 21,000 pictures, 32 hours of video, 8,000 songs or 20,000 documents.

Transfer speeds are up to 480Mb/s and the drive sports a free preview of the CryptArchiver encryption software, which ciphers up to 25MB of data at 128-bit AES encryption. You’ll have to pony up extra for the full version but then you’ll be able to encrypt up to 20GB of files. The key features include:

New thin, stackable design means an easy fit in even the tightest USB port array
New swivel design protects USB port when not in use.
Sleek design includes durable keychain/lanyard grommet for easy transport
Plug 'n Play via USB port on any PC or MAC
Lifetime Warranty

The 32GB DiskGO launches in the US on Friday for around £200. Not as much fun as the USB Humping Dog, but probably a whole lot more useful.-Martin Lynch

In the second year of the BAFTA Video Game Awards, Wii Sports swung, bowled and served its way to awards in six categories.

It snapped up gongs in Gameplay, Casual, Innovation, Multiplayer, Sports and Strategy & Simulation, making it the biggest overall winner at the 2007 awards. Not bad, since it was nominated in just seven categories. Just look how different the 2006 Winners were.

There were still some scraps left though for the others to fight over.

Xbox 360 games managed a strong showing with Bioshock winning Best Game and Crackdown taking Best Action & Adventure and Best Use of Audio.

Life wouldn’t be fair if God Of War 2 didn’t manage to hack its way to the front somewhere and it didn’t disappoint, with the PS2 jewel taking the Best Technical Achievement and Best Story & Character.

The award for Best Artistic Achievement and Best Original Score went to Okami for the PS2 while the PC Gamers Award For Best Game – the only public-voted award - went to Football Manager 2007 for the PC.

Most notably, the PS3 didn’t bag a single gong.-Martin Lynch

This Friday, a new bundle will arrive for UK gamers in the shape of the Xbox 360 Arcade – already on sale in the US.

For £199 - £20 more than the old Core system - gamers will get a console sporting a HDMI input, HDMI cable, wireless controller, 256Mb of memory and five Xbox Live Arcade games. These are Pac-Man Championship Edition, Uno, Luxor 2, Boom Boom Rocket and Feeding Frenzy.

Microsoft is pushing the bundle as a ‘family-friendly’ offering in the run up to the Christmas silliness so don’t expect to find a single axe-wielding maniac in sight.

“As European families gather together this Christmas, it's the perfect time to launch a family orientated Xbox 360 package that plays games, video and music for everyone to enjoy,” gushed Stephen McGill, head of gaming and entertainment for Microsoft UK.

“In addition to offering an incredible all-in-one package for families to get right into the fun, the Xbox 360 Arcade system features the industry leading family settings that allow parents to control what their kids are watching and playing, and we know how important that control is to families around the world.”

Will repackaging the entry-level 360 as a rugrat-hugging, Wii Wannabe really jump start sales for Christmas? I have my doubts.-Martin Lynch

I laugh now at a time when I thought 16MB of Ram in an early PC I owned was just about as hot as things could get.

64GB Flash chip.jpgToday, Samsung has taken the wraps off a new 64Gb NAND Flash chip with the potential to create whopping 128GB Flash memory cards. This opens a whole raft of opportunities for new kinds of portable music/movie players, laptops, portable storage devices and imaging gadgets.

The company is planning to create a new memory card that will combine up to 16 chips to deliver 128GB of storage, which in real terms is up to 80 DVD movies or 32,000 MP3 tracks. Samsung claimed:

"The flash memory device represents a major leap forward in the move to higher density flash storage solutions at a time of exploding demand for flash as the main storage medium in computing and digital applications."

Don’t hold your breath though - production will not begin until 2009.-Martin Lynch
