When it comes to recycling, we tend to think about our food wrappings, empty beer tins and wine bottles. But what happens to all those sex toys?

UK sex toy retailer, Love Honey, has been running its aptly-named Rabbit Amnesty for some time now and has revealed that just over a tonne of much used and loved sex toys have been donated for recycling. The video - not all that exciting - shows a whopping number of them being recycled.

Of course, it doesn’t mean the users of sex toys are greener than other folk, just that they get 50% off the price of a new bedroom friend.

I love that there are people out there who are actually concerned about being green! It is so pleasing to know that even the most avid sex toy enthusiasts care enough about our environment to help make a difference. Well, I have a few tips on how to pick greener sex toys that you readers might be interested in.

One thing you can do is stop using batteries! Batteries are not biodegradable and simply pile up in landfills. Not only that, but the toxic chemicals inside the batteries leach out and are very harmful to the environment. Try using rechargeable batteries in your sex toys. These batteries can be used over and over again. Also, you could try using electric sex toys as an alternative.

Also, try using sex toys and accessories made from biodegradable materials, such as leather, wood, cotton etc. Glass sex toys can also be recycled!

You can also try using natural lubricants instead of ones loaded with weary chemicals. Not only is this good for the environment, but is also better for your body.

Just doing my part by spreading tips, ideas and overall knowledge of how to add environmentally friendly ideas to your sex toys!

great that lovehoney are trying to do something to help the enviroment At the adult zone we think all sex toy retailers should take a similar line. We intend to offer a 10% discount of a single purchase for ever toy returned

I agree on this, they are doing a good job here. I also have a site selling sex toys and i think we can also do the same..
