Kiss Phone Opens Up New Frontier of Teledildonic Possibilities November 09, 2007

In the mad scramble to invent teledildonics devices, an inventor has created a forerunner of the category with the Kiss Phone. Although we're wondering who would want to be seen in public with this odd-looking phone with its downturned mouth that reminds us of a self-masturbation machine, its inventor apparently has high hopes for the design concept. Let's let him explain it:

"This KissPhone detects percussion speed, pressure, temperature, and sucking force of the lips, when you kiss it. An artificial mouth on the phone can reproduces same parameters to the kissphone receptor."

So now you can send and receive kisses from a distance, and even record your favorites for repeated playback. Anything you can do with data, you can now do with a kiss. Imagine that. Wonder what else the Kiss Phone feels like kissing. -Charlie White [Pro Invention]

Nissan Developing Color Changing Paint November 09, 2007

If Nissan has anything to say about it, soon everyone will be James Bonds, changing the color of their car with the flip of a switch. That's because Nissan is developing a paramagnetic iron oxide paint polymer. Using an electrical charge, the arrangement of iron oxide crystals can be tweaked, adjusting the car's color. (It just so happens that metal-bodied cars make for excellent conductive surfaces.) But we're really excited over Nissan's surely bogus but juicy claim to have the technology on the market extremely soon, by 2010 if possible. Oh...except there's one catch.

hp photosmart.jpg HP has decided that if it’s too hot in the dark room, leave and get someone else to do your digital snappers for you.

HP figures that designing and manufacturing its own digital cameras is no longer a profitable game and has started hunting around for an OEM firm to take over. In a press release that reads almost like a job advert, the company said:

“HP is currently working to identify an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partner that would be licensed to design, source and distribute digital cameras under the HP brand. HP will continue selling its own cameras through the holiday season and intends to have the partnership arrangement in place in the first half of 2008.

This shift in strategy is intended to enable HP to accelerate its investment in Print 2.0 initiatives. These include furthering HP's leadership position in home photo printing and online photo services, while accelerating the company's retail photo-finishing business.”

In other words, there will still be HP-branded cameras, just not HP cameras. Pretty much like most consumer digital cameras once you get past the badge.-Martin Lynch

You’d hardly think something this small could be so powerful but with a light beam that can illuminate objects over half a mile away, you’d be wrong.

It is called the Xenide from AE Light - the 25W version - sporting a HID halide light-source with a rated brightness of 1,500 Lumens that can light up a target more than 900m away. A burglar would have to run a very long way indeed before dodging this beam.

It's powered by a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery with 120 minutes of life and it can survive being submerged in up to 2m of water - for a short time.

Still, considering it costs over £210, you really don’t want to be waving this around near any H2O.

If it’s style and luxury you’re after though, check out the cleavage-hugging SureFire Titan for £250. -Martin Lynch

The Finger Wrench – Lo-Tech Genius November 09, 2007

finger_wrench.jpg
I could have used something like this so many times in my life and saved so many skinned knuckles that I’m surprised I haven’t come across one before.

This is a really clever piece of lo-tech gadgetry called the Finger Wrench, which slips on your finger and is designed to hold fiddly nuts steady in difficult to reach places so that you can screw the damn bolt in.

You know immediately that you could have used this tool hundreds of times in the past. Every time you have to hold a small nut or bolt (it holds either) in an awkward spot, this wrench works marvelously. Finger pressure holds the nut or bolt in the wrench, while the raised, tapered slot prevents it from turning. Made from high-impact ABS, the sleeve adjusts to fit any size of finger.

It costs less than £2 here.-Martin Lynch
