The World’s Most Powerful Flashlight? November 9, 2007
Read more Gadgets , Gizmodo UK

You’d hardly think something this small could be so powerful but with a light beam that can illuminate objects over half a mile away, you’d be wrong.
It is called the Xenide from AE Light - the 25W version - sporting a HID halide light-source with a rated brightness of 1,500 Lumens that can light up a target more than 900m away. A burglar would have to run a very long way indeed before dodging this beam.
It's powered by a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery with 120 minutes of life and it can survive being submerged in up to 2m of water - for a short time.
Still, considering it costs over £210, you really don’t want to be waving this around near any H2O.

£210!?! I bought a 1,500,000 lumens flash light from my local garage for £24.99, and that was over 6 months ago. The damn things so bright you can use it as a search light.
FYI, a standard 100 watt light bulb is rated at 1,500 lumens. So this is a very expensive tourch, thats not very bright.
Think you might be confusing Candela with Lumens here. Link should clarify. This is one very very powerful torch - far superior at distance to your £25.99 lamp.
Hmm... You could be right.
But even if you convert 1,500,000 Candela to Lumens it still comes out better. 1,500,000 Candela = 119,332 Lumens.
I guess I'd have to see the Xenide in operation to be convinced.
