ps3 shiny.jpg With the official US release of the 2.0 firmware patch, PS3 owners are getting the promised remote start feature.

Remote Start is an upgrade from the Remote Play feature, which lets PSP owners to switch on their PS3 remotely from a Wi-Fi hotspot and then use the Remote Play feature for accessing music, videos and photos held on the console. Just make sure you leave the PS3 in stand-by first.

The update also allows users to set theme and, finally after much user groaning, the ability to create custom playlists for music and photos.

There’s also the addition of Information Board, which offers scrolling headlines in the upper-right hand corner of the screen about PlayStation news, games, accessories etc. Thankfully, it can be disabled too.-Martin Lynch
