It may come as no surprise but console shortages for all of three main platforms are looking more likely for Christmas.

According to MCV, the companies behind the Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360 have all said that shortages could be on the cards as demand is expected to outstrip to supply.
This is a regular Christmas occurrence so reporting on it now might help those that really want a Wiimote for smashing up the living room this Christmas. They should be thinking about it now rather than in a few weeks when stupid people go insane, panic and convince themselves that two days before Christmas Day is a smart time to go shopping.
Nintendo UK general manager David Yarnton said: “Every year it seems to happen with stock being tight, and I don’t think that this year is going to be any different. We’ve got regular stock coming in. In terms of demand, we can’t predict whether that will be enough at the moment – probably not. But you can’t just turn on a tap with hardware.”
Reps from both Sony and Microsoft recommended early shopping as the only way to avoid disappointment. Well, the would – but you have been warned.-Martin Lynch

shortages of xbox 360? u got to be joking
yeh, but if everybody early shops, then it will be exactly the smame...just sooner!
It's all good saying "shop early." But, all the deals start appearing a week or so before xmas.
I know a couple of people in work have been trying to track down a Wii console in Liverpool (UK) and so far, there is no stock in stores!! Even the two Argos stores are apparently awaiting stock.
As for the PS3 - is it worth getting as there's hardly any games for it; and it looks like you need an HDTV to watch the blu-ray movies, so what's the point. Actually, that's another thought, most of the stroes here in Liverpool; and online seem to be selling/taking orders for the 40Gb model. You don't see much about the 60Gb model these days.
As for the 360, the Elite's are apparently in short numbers. People are getting those more than the current Premium, that I have. They're also looking for the 360's starting with Lot #734 as they have the new 65nm processor.
Try buying a Wii - not been able to since October.
Order them from Amazon.de and pay the postage. They have stock, Works fine and all you need is a power adapter ...
Whilst it's probably true that most high street retailors will struggle to meet the demand this Christmas, for the savvy consumer it is fairly straightforward to get their hands on the console they want. There are so many online retailors with stock aplenty in preperation for the rush - although from what I am seeing the Wii will again be the hardest to track down.
Am I being too cynical in saying this could be another ploy on the part of the manufacturers to boost their Christmas coffers?
