With the CES 2007 Show just two months away in Las Vegas, the big guns are now lining up their next-gen home entertainment kit to steal an early media lead on their rivals.
LG has announced what it claims is the first HDTV with in-built Wi-Fi, capable of streaming HD content without the need for all those cumbersome wires. The announcement comes hot on the heels of LG's other 'first', the introduction of the world's first 32in plasma TV.
The luxury 52LG71 is a 52in LCD panel, capable of displaying 1080p content and sporting 802.11 technology that removes the need for a separate media hub. What version of 802.11 is being used is still a mystery.
It’s likely that the set will also sport 120Hz scanning – as opposed to the usual 100Hz scanning technology – which should result in smoother [less ghosting] pictures during sport or fast-motion video.
LG’s latest large LCD TVs, announced in August, already feature 120Hz scanning. -Martin Lynch
