If only Sony hadn’t vastly overpriced the PS3 from the start, its sales almost one year on could have been so much more spectacular.

New figures for the week ending November 11, show that the recent prices cuts have worked a treat with more than 100,000 consoles sold in the US – up from and average of 30-40,000 in early October, before the price cuts and the new cut-price 40GB model. Sony CEO, Howard Stringer, said:

"It's the breakthrough we've been anticipating. We've been holding our breath. Obviously, we've taken so much heat over the year on PS3. Finally, the turning point has been passed."

I wouldn't go that far but at least Stringer isn’t too arrogant to assume that the turnaround is all down to Sony’s price cutting either:

“It's a little fortuitous that the Wii is running out of hardware.”

I went into Liverpool's GAME, HMV and Zavvi (The new name for Virgin) and all 3 stores have 'Out of stock' signs for the Wii. All 3 have tonnes of 40Gb PS3's with limited stock of the 60Gb version. Have to say HMV has the better deal with 2 games and a blu-ray movie for £349.99 or £299.99 depending on which version you want.

What made me laugh though, was in GAME they said they had the 40Gb and 60Gb versioons, but they didn't have the advertised bundles as they'd run out of the games - erm hang on, I can see them on the shelf next to the console display, open you eyes boys!!

Anyhow, after searching the net for a Wii, I stumbled across this website well worth monitoring if you're in the UK - http://www.wii-consoles.co.uk/ It basically displays all the different stores stocking the Wii and says if and when they are in stock, or likely to be delivered, along with other helpful info.

I bought my 60gb ps3 last year for £349.99 with two games, and i have hardly used my 360 since !

Its well worth an extra £30 quid for the 60gb instead of the 40gb too.
