Japanese Bondage And Gadgets Make Us Scratch Our Heads November 27, 2007

Gamersweb stumbled upon this set of gadget bondage pictures on 2chan, the anonymous Japanese internet forum that wrought the nerdling train romance onto the world. We're not sure what exactly traditional Japanese bondage rope has to do with Game Boy Color, computer speakers, or a roll of toilet paper, but it looks like somebody's getting some practice in before working the real thing (if that time ever comes). -Jason Chen [Gamersweb]

Has The iPhone Bombed In The UK? November 27, 2007

If ‘reliable channel sources’ are to be believed then O2 has activated just 26,500 iPhones since it launched a few weeks ago – a long way down on optimistic, early sales predictions of 100,000 for the first weekend.

This figure [which could be wrong] comes from channel sources speaking to The Register and follows on from yesterday’s survey which highlighted that most UK shoppers in the market for a new phone will not be getting an iPhone for Christmas because it costs too much.

The O2 story also mentions that Carphone Warehouse – which cocked up the launch day – has allegedly sold just 11,000 of its 50,000 stock for the first weekend. The company had hoped to flog 10,000 in the first 4 hours.

Of course, sales of iPhones will probably be higher than those that have been activated but not by a massive amount, indicating that the iPhone hasn’t exactly exploded onto the UK market. Merely popped.

T-Mobile was quick to boast about how fast the iPhone was selling for it in Germany which makes you wonder, why is O2 being so quiet?-Martin Lynch

t-groove tshirt.gif Christmas is coming all too soon and the pubs and streets will soon be filled with hideously drunk people from office parties pulling hideously bad dance moves. Probably you and I included.

Add that to some Christmas dancing with your pickled Gran around the living room and you realise that some help may be needed. What you need is a distraction. The T-Groove t-shirt is just that, featuring an animated dancing pink girl that moves in time to the music. It’s sound sensitive so she'll start throwing shapes as soon as the songs kick in.

With the lights down, no one will ever know that you dance like a hippo in a straitjacket. Hell, hang it on the door and they’ll never notice that you’ve left the room. Yours for £25 here.

See a video of the gyrating pink girl in action after the jump. If that's too flashy, you can always opt for some retro gaming action with the Animated Pong T-Shirt.-Martin Lynch

manhunt 2 axe.jpg
Rockstar has begun its fight back against the UK ban on its game, Manhunt 2, by launching a blistering attack on the BBFC at a special appeal yesterday.

Addressing the Video Appeals Committee, Rockstar representative Geoffrey Robertson, claimed the BBFC should have its name changed to the British Board of Videogame Censors. In addition, he said that BBFC members were “ignorant of the gaming experience".

“Their reputation is not at stake; if it were we could show how, over the last century, they've been derided for some of the most stupid decisions in censorship history. But we're not going to go down that road. "There you are, seven of you - not one of you has experienced, I'm told by the chairman, computer games, or are a gamer."

The BBFC denied that claim and pointed out that the members had played Manhunt 2 before deciding to ban it. The BBFC has already rejected a watered-down version of the game.

Robertson presented some expert witnesses and survey results showing that people thought Manhunt 2 was no more violent than certain other games and less so than some movies.

Having trouble nodding off at night? Counting sheep not working? Then you could probably do worse than spending £20 [or much less if you look around] for the Sound Asleep Pillow.

Just hook it up to your chosen iPod or MP3 player, choose your tunes and the sound comes through the soft hollowfibre filling, from an internal speakers. You might think that your other half would be less than pleased with being woken up in the middle of the night by the chirping Sounds Of Nature Vol. 1 but the makers claim that the sound can only be heard by those lying on the pillow.

In addition to music, you can use it for listening to audio books, learning a new language or even watching TV. God knows it has to be more comfortable than waking up in the morning with your earphones still in. Available now from Amazon, Argos and others.-Martin Lynch

It's a shame that they won't be here for the Christmas, when we could all do with a break from Only Fools & Horses re-runs, but early next year will see the welcome arrival of wireless guitar controllers for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock on all platforms.

The news has been knocking around since early summer so this is really just a tweaked confirmation with a timeframe.

Activision has confirmed that all of you furious fret freaks with fingers of fire will be able to shred wirelessly soon enough with wireless controllers including, the exclusive Gibson Guitar's Les Paul model, for the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii.

Even better, PS2 rockers will get to twiddle on an "exclusive shape", Gibson’s Kramer guitar. According to Activision , the Kramer was “popularised by hard rockers and known for its body design, pickups, electronics and construction for furious finger fretting.”

No prices and the date remains annoyingly vague at ‘early 2008’.
