The best method of monitoring what the nippers are watching is not to give the rugrats their own TV but are other, more expensive, ways of keeping tabs.
This is the Toyti wireless TV which is apparently about to hit Europe soon from Korean outfit I Do It.
It comprises a 10.2in widescreen monitor which comes clad in a variety of cutesy animal sheaths, a base station and a big ass remote control. Hook the base station to your regular TV or set-top box and wirelessly stream content using 802.11g technology at 2.4GHz around the house to the monitor. The range is quoted at 35m.
There’s even a 2.5in LCD on the base station so that you can see that the cherubs are watching and parental controls to block unsuitable channels. There’s no price but it will not be cheap.

I realise Christmas is coming but this taking the gadget-religious link thing a bit far.
Meet the Maria USB Stick which the makers advertise with: “Oh Maria, Kepp My Data Safe!’. I’ll confess that I have invoked the odd deity’s name when my PCs have died or crashed in the past but I’m pretty sure buying this 512MB stick would get me sent straight to Hell. Here’s what the makers say:
Standing dignified on her socket, enshrined in Plexiglas, when work calls she frees herself of her surroundings. Connected with the computer she comes to life, her red LED heart starts to beat – in passive state slowly, quicker whilst connecting or saving data. On her halo is engraved the prayer – “Oh Maria, keep my data safe!”
If technical skills have failed you then maybe some Divine Data Storage really is the answer. You’re still going to Hell though. Yours for a non-charitable £50 here Yes, £50 for a whole 512MB - if not the holiest storage device, Maria is certainly one of the most expensive.

Anyone who has ever tried to ditch one mobile phone network for another will have suffered delays in getting their number ported of up to five days. Five days!
Regulator Ofcom, however, has decided that the process should be cranked up from the slow lane to light speed with a porting time of just 2 hours. Now that will be useful. The new rules will come into force on none other than April 1, 2008.
Ofcom is also requiring the industry to co-operate and create a common database to handle calls and to pave the way for more efficient call routing. The new database will also “ensure that consumers are not affected by problems with their old network, after they have ported their number.”
Ofcom Chief Executive, Ed Richards said “Consumers deserve a quick and easy process for switching while retaining their number. These measures will promote competition in the UK mobile market and act directly in the consumers’ interest. Our new rules set tough but achievable deadlines to put new systems in place and I look to the industry to implement them effectively”.

One of the barriers to buying a digital photo frame is that they tend to be a bit on the pricey side still. Well, not anymore.
The Cirrus Digital Digital Photo Frame costs just £14. Woo-hoo! At last, a real price breakthrough! What’s the snag? Er, it’s a 1.5in digital photo frame. That doesn’t stop it being pretty cool though, in a teeny tiny tech kinda way. The rechargeable frame is designed to be worn like a necklace or carried in your pocket and can store up to 85 photos of your little preciouses.
Features:
- 1.5 inch digital photo frame
- Colour LCD display
- 128 x 128 pixel resolution
- 8MB of built-in memory
- 3.7V lithium battery rechargeable via any USB port
- Photo slide show adjustable from 10-180 seconds
- Clock display
It will work with Windows PCs – not Macs though – and comes with fabric neck strap, keychain, driver CD, USB cable and manual. Still wouldn't wear one though.-Martin Lynch
