Apple is almost finished putting together a second-generation iPhone and is expected to overhaul its slow-selling Apple TV product.

This is the latest news from Goldman Sachs analyst David Bailey, who just got off the plane from meetings with Far East suppliers – a.k.a. snitches.

In a research note, Bailey said that Apple will launch two revisions of the iPhone in 2008 and an improved Apple TV later in the year. The form factor of the iPhone is expected to stay the same although the look may be changed and 3G will capability be introduced. The Apple TV prediction states that the unit could be getting some form of LCD display.

Bailey added: “Apple will refresh its entire Mac line-up throughout 2008, but information about the potential launch of a sub-notebook was scarce, with one supplier saying that the product may be pushed out, citing possible design issues.”

As long as Apple throws in an iPhone price cut with the 3G, unconvinced UK punters might be persuaded.-Martin Lynch

These Brits are just a bit cautious as always. I showed them my new pimped-up 1.1.2 Fully unlocked iPhone running on T-Mobile and now everyone I talk to wants a piece of iAction. New year sales for iPhones in the UK will be through the roof! (you heard it here first)

It is too big like a brick to be called iPhone. I would call it iPDA :)

The only way that iphone sales will go through the roof is if O2 and Apple drop the price and greatly improve the contract deal.
Apple are really missing a trick here, the iphone is the Trojan Horse that will enhance all Apple products to the UK mass market. So give the iphone to the masses and let the product sell the brand, rather than the brand sell a product. There is no point having lots of new stores if all it attracts are people who want to play rather that pay for the shiny iMac and ITV and iPhone.
An iphone price cut will deliver much bigger sales across the WHOLE product range in the future.

I'm still not sure of the Iphone. Tried and tested it in America and still not impressed with the 'new & improved' UK version. The price is good but think its shambolic that your tied down to a soul selling contract with O2. Atleast AT&T have some specials going on for their old customers. O2 is zero on that front.
I've recently purchased a Sony Ericsson W960i from Dubai. Think its a bloody great phone and better than the Iphone in so many aspects plus a great camera. It just falls behind on smooth browsing at times but once you get used to it, its great. Im happy it does the job for me.
Think the iphone is facing the curse of 'the new product concept'. The 2nd gen is what Im looking forward to.
Till then, why dont you give the W960i a try?
