Is This The New MacBook Sub-Notebook? January 4, 2008

Some newbie on the Macrumors forums has posted up a photo of what appears to be an anorexic MacBook.
It conforms to certain rumours out there about the new ultra-skinny MacBooks which Steve Jobs will be unveiling at Macworld Expo on January 14. These include no optical drive, just an external drive to help reduce weight, and a large, multi-touch trackpad. The above photo of a skinny MacBook on the right certainly omits an internal drive and there sure is a big ass trackpad but then, it’s amazing the stuff you can do these days with Photoshop.
If this was for real, the lighting would have been better, there would be more shots, and there'd be no need to throw in other other Apple products to enhance the sneaky 'Apple office at night' effect. Cute con though.-Martin Lynch

If this is real, I would like to see how can user use the built-in keyboard with touching the trackpad.
surely it is internal flash memory isntead of a hard disk
the trackpad is too big. it would be hard to use the keyboard because of the trackpads size... unless this is aimed towards people who only type with their index fingers
Looks authentic at first, but the shadows and lighting are simply wrong.
I agree as well that the trackpad would be nothing like that.
the trackpad would realise palms rested on the trackpad and automatically omit any input from the pad, letting the user type.
The extended trackpad COULD make sense given the sepculation that the trackpad will support multi-touch functions like on the iPhone - while it seems like there would be much more fuss, it seems plausible at first blush. Guess we will know tomorrow.
