spykee.jpg You may have heard about Meccano’s DIY Spykee robot last year, although it failed to arrive in time for Christmas.

Now – even though the £200 original is not due here for months yet – it’s about to get three siblings: the Spykee Cell, Spykee Vox and Spykee Miss robots. No doubt they’ll be cropping up at CES 2008 next week so I’ll hunt for some pics and specs then.

The original Spykee [above] is a little peeping tom, or house guard, depending how you look at it. Controlled remotely from your laptop or PC via WiFi, Spykee roams about the house with its internal Web cam and microphone making sure that your housesitter isn’t cleaning you out.

It’ll also playback your MP3s and can be used for VoIP calls.

The new models are expected to arrive with Bluetooth and voice activated commands too.-Martin Lynch

Is it me, or does that robot look a look like 'Jonny 5' out of the movie 'Short Circuit'?
