portable blender.gif For anyone still drinking after the Christmas overkill, you could do worse - or maybe not - than the Portable Drill Blender.

For you £15 you get one drill bit, one blending attachment and two mugs to help you pull your best Tim Allen 'Home Improvement' impression at your cocktail party.

This kind of tool is especially useful for those of us that can't juggle bottles and flip glasses like those flashy gits in real bars. And, let's not forget, when you're done you can always use it for mixing up a bit of cement - albeit a little bit - for that long overdue garden patio.

“Quiet on set please! Actors to your marks. Let’s make this a good one so we can all finally go to the pub and get mashed. 3, 2, 1…ACTION!”

If you’ve ever felt the inner drive to make a movie or merely take the piss out of one already made then Empire magazine is running the right competition for you and your gadgets.

mini darth.jpg The ‘Done in 60 Seconds’ competition is inviting would-be Scorceses to remake their favourite movie in 60 seconds or less on DV camcorder or mobile phone. You can choose any movie you want. Here are the rules:

Do
Remake a movie of your choice (no originality please)
Use your friends and family (make sure your cast have agreed to perform)
As many as you want (it's your time)
Feel free to 'adapt' the film to fit the format (you don't have to be completely faithful)

Don't
Go over one minute in length, you’ll be disqualified
Slander anyone (we’re averse to court cases)
Do pornography, we are trying to run a decent magazine here
Use any footage that is not your own (no ‘mashing’ allowed)

The deadline for entries is Feb 11 and the top 5 will be judged by Empire staff and readers with the winner announced at the Sony Ericsson Empire Awards in London on March 9. Go here to Empire’s 60 second version of the Bourne Ultimatum to see the kind of trash they need.-Martin Lynch
