Leaving aside all the grumbling about price and lack of decent games, the PS3 has managed to hit the 1m mark in the UK.
Launched on March 23 last year, the PS3 also managed to hit the magic 1m mark before it’s hugely successful predecessor, the PS2, which took 50 weeks to sell its first million, according to ChartTrack.
Sony has confirmed the numbers and will no doubt be chuffed that the PS3 also comfortably managed to beat the Xbox 360 to the million mark. The 360 took 60 weeks. It was also reported that the PS3 sold 1 million consoles across Europe in December alone.
It seems that Sony’s next-gen console has finally overcome some early sales hiccups and other problems.-Martin Lynch
