Apple has updated both its MacBook and MacBook Pro laptops but fashionista fans expecting some slinkier looks a la the new MacBook Air will be sorely disappointed.

Unusually, Apple’s gone for the ‘it’s what’s on the inside that really counts’ approach, with a raft of speedy new Intel Core2Duo processors ranging from 2.4GHz to 2.6GHz, bigger hard disk drives (HDDs), up to 4GB of memory and more powerful graphics chips from nVidia. On the outside they do get one noticeable tweak with the addition of the Multi-Touch panel from the Air. More details, full specs and prices after the jump.

All models now come with a built-in iSight video camera, Apple’s MagSafe Power Adaptor which detaches when accidentally stepped on and built-in 802.11n wireless networking, offering a claimed 5x boost in performance and twice the range of 801.11g.

Screens start at 13.3in and run to 17in. The entry-level MacBook starts at £699.-Martin Lynch
