Energy doesn’t get more free than the sun but getting it into your portable gadgets is another matter indeed.
Meet the FreeLoader 8.0 Portable Solar Charger, a small charging device that absorbs solar energy and converts it to power for juicing your vital gadgets anywhere on the go.
From MP3 players and phones to digital cameras and PSPs, the FreeLoader can power them all and even has direct connection ports for the iPhone, iPod Touch and Nintendo DS Lite. According to the makers, Solar Technology, FreeLoader 8.0 can power an iPod for 18 hours, a mobile phone for 44 hours, a PSP for 2.5 hours and a PDA for 22 hours.
Apparently, the device features ‘extra sensitive’ solar panels that are efficient at absorbing light in our crappy cloudy weather.
It’s lean, green, costs just £30 and comes with 11 popular gadget/phone adaptors included. Available in Hot Pink or Aluminium Cool Silver. Find out more here.-Martin Lynch

Hmmm
I made a negative comment about this product, and it was removed!!!
I've rather lost confidence in Gizmodo...
I used one of these in a Very Sunny Spain last summer, my ipod worked for about 25 minutes when I complained they told me to "P*ss off, as they were moving the company"
Stay well clear
i also used one of these in spain, and found it lacking - initial charge from my computer gave my phone a boost, but as far as the solar charge goes, pointless - its good for the battery pack though.
Bought one of these not expecting much, and got less. It would keep my N95 going for around 5 minutes after a full charge, and 2 weeks later the battery gave out the delightful smell of expired electronics. It was dead, and will not be replaced until a better product emerges.
