As predicted Asus has taken the wraps off a new Eee laptop, called the Eee 900, which will run Windows XP on its new hardware set-up.
The screen size has had a welcome bump from 7in to almost 9in and the resolution will be 1024 x 600 pixels, up from 800 x 480. The bigger screen has been facilitated by moving the speakers from the sides to underneath.
To help run XP instead of its current Linux OS, memory has been upgraded from 512MB to 1GB and the solid state storage drive will jump from 4GB to either an 8GB or 12GB option. Even the in-built Web-cam has been overhauled with its pitiful 300 pixel resolution now cranked up to 1.3MP.
There’s no cost yet for the XP version of the Eee 900 but it will cost more than the Linux version of the device, which is now quoted at EUR399 (£307) – around a third more than its predecessor. This means that the price of the “most inexpensive ultra-portable device” is creeping up slowly but surely.

Still, the extra storage and ram make it even better an option for linux. Tasty!
Retailers are starting to take pre-orders already and we don't even have the full specs yet.
