Microsoft is in talks with Sony about getting a Blu-ray drive for its Xbox 360 console, now that HD DVD is a goner.
That’s the claim anyway but, this time, it’s reportedly from Stan Glasgow, Sony Electronics’ US CEO, the same man who just admitted that cheap Blu-ray players won’t land until 2009. Stan’s a busy man. Either the wine took control of his tongue and he spilled a tidy little secret or, he’s just having a laugh.
The FT said Stan told them over dinner that the two bitter console rivals are talking about it but there’s no detail on whether it's an internal or external drive. If true, it only makes sense if the drive is internal. Of course, Microsoft spokespeople have been choking on their bagels and climbing over each other on the way to the telephone to deny any such announcement. In a statement, spokespeople said:
"We have made no such announcement. Games are what are driving consumers to purchase game consoles and we remain focused on providing the largest library of blockbuster games available."
Well, of course there’s ‘no announcement’ but that doesn’t mean there won’t be and the statement is not exactly a denial of both companies having a wee chat either. Expect this speculation to crop up a lot in the coming year.-Martin Lynch

I really don't see this happening. Any kind of a deal would be at least a year or 2 away which would push the 360 into the back half of its life cycle. Who would want a pricey blue ray that would expire in a couple of years? Shennanigans!
Blue rays will be 1/2 price and be licensed by the time MS get their act together with the x-box

They have already made another version of the xbox 360, (xbox 360 elite) why just improve the other one! The best thing to do would be to wait a few years then make another console. And to be honest, the graphics are perfect anyway.
MS already have another xBox on the cards, the 540. They have mentioned it time and time again in interviews with Games review websites, but said it won't be made available for at least 4 years. My guess is, this will have the blu-ray player in it, along with whatever new technology has been developed in that time.
The authors of this newspost could have just added a "?" to the end of the title and it wouldn't have been so bad. I hate it when news sites use false titles to lure in people.
Hey, for all we know Sony could've been telling the truth!
Rumble is so last ge- Oh wait.
