The cursed grass cutting season is almost upon us again. What better way then to keep the green stuff trim with the least amount of effort than the new fully-automatic robot Automower, from leading mower maker, Husqvarna.

This autonomous robot mower is hybrid electric/solar powered device is capable of mowing 2,300 square meters of grass – that’s a fair bit - and is built from 90% recyclable components. Once you set up the wire perimeter with the supplied wire, the robot struts its stuff while you break out the Pimms. More importantly, the company claims the mower will save you 40 hours of mindless mowing each season. That’s a lot of Pimms.

With the charged battery and the solar panels [on a sunny day] the mower is good for 45 minutes snipping and when the juice gets low, it will slink off to its charging station all by itself.

“This is to take Automower to the next level with higher performance and further reduced impact on the environment," says Bengt Andersson, CEO Husqvarna Group. “90% of Automower is recyclable, it eliminates the need for fertilizers, it is quiet, has no exhaust emissions and ensures your lawn is always well-kept.”

Of course, the price for being able to do anything but cut the grass will cost you. £2,000 to be precise.-Martin Lynch
