ASUS Bringing Bamboo To Computing March 12, 2008

Asus, makers of the popular Eee laptop, wants us all to consider a greener IT purchase by unveiling its concept laptops and PCs made from bamboo. Not the first material you’d consider using but Asus says it’s fine, green and safe to EC standards.

They cropped up at the latest CeBIT 2008 event and attracted lots of appreciative glances as well a share of scepticism over whether they’ll actually make it into mainstream production.

They have been knocking about the media circuit since last year but Asus seems determined that it will bring us bamboo kit. The company claims that they will enter production this summer and we’ll see eco-friendly products in time for Christmas.

Right now they consist of the U6 and S6 notebooks, LS201 display and Essentio 5110 desktop PC. They sure are pretty though. See a close-up of the sexy bamboo laptop after the jump. -Martin Lynch

I like my consoles but not enough to tattoo them on my skin. Trust me, if ‘I Love Mum’ isn’t there then neither is Xbox, PS2/3 or Wii.

One UK fan though has opted to proclaim his love [obsession] by tattooing PS3 onto his forearm in big, black letters.

Apparently, it’s a ‘World’s First’ but let’s be honest here, it’s not exactly up there with walking on the moon or heart transplants.

Seeing as the boys just got their fantasy dose with the French Maid PC, here’s one for game-loving girls: The GameBoy Boots.

Combine your love of 1970s platforms with the still popular GameBoy handheld by sticking the two of them together. I’m not sure if the platforms are a cutting edge fashion statement or are merely a statement about how geeky you are, but either way these pavement pounders will attract attention.
