Having lived in a variety of shoe-box bedsits, I really appreciate having some space these days.

For those still struggling with limited living space, a new space-saving concept called BEDUP, brings a novel bedding solution to small spaces by installing the bed on the ceiling.

It comes from French company, Décadrages, and like the bed-in-the-wall idea, you can install a double bed on the ceiling which can be winched out of the way when you get up. This opens one room up to many different uses, from a kid’s playroom to extra living space or home office.

Some of the BEDUPs come with inbuilt shelving and additional furniture, as well as integrated lighting underneath that acts as room lighting when on the ceiling.

And, if you’re really bored, you can always throw the kids in it before winching them up to ceiling height for a little peace and quiet. See a video here.-Martin Lynch

If you really want extra space and want to save yourself the hassle of lynching up your bed every morning before work... Then just invest in a sleeping bag....

Sleep in it, then toss it in your cuboard. When it's dirty toss it in the washing machine, and in January use it to sleep in queues for shopping centers....

If that seems like a stupid idea, see bed that probably costs more than a few grand that you can lynch into the ceiling provided that you haven't got any spiders or rats in the ceiling, oh and if in a warmer climate, lizards and mosquitos.....
