I always thought the idea of slipping into a hot spa was to relax but I’m obviously way out of touch with developments in the spa sector.

This is the Aquatic Fitness System, designed to make you work your ass off before you earn the right for a little bit of R&R at the end.

The giant tub features lots of apparatus underwater and is designed to make you carry out what are described as “low-impact” exercises to shape, tone and buff up for the summer. Within the exercise section, you can stretch, row and swim and when you’ve Embraced The Pain, you can retire to the rear section to relax and ask yourself whether you really needed to spend all that money on the underwater gym bit.

If spiking your relaxation with exercise gets your juices flowing, you can get one of these for between £15,000 and £22,500 here. Maybe I’ll just visit the gym and it’s pain-free spa.-Martin Lynch
