Not so long ago, 1TB hard disk drives (HDDs) were the stuff of dreams but now we have a slew of 1TB PC drives out there. But which is the best?
ExtremeTech took seven of the leading ones on the market and put them through their paces to see which one is stood out.
Topping the performance stakes was the Samsung Spinpoint HD103UJ, which proved to be the fastest 7200rpm drive they tested and the second cheapest.
If you’re not all about performance though, then they also tagged the ‘greenest’ drive, with the nod going to the 1TB Western Digital GreenPower drive. By sacrificing some speed, the drive still performed OK but used less power and was quieter than the rest. The price of silence though makes it more expensive than Samsung’s Hot Rod.
Looking online, you can find the Samsung and WD drives for around £158 and £184, respectively.-Martin Lynch

It's not all about performance, nor is it about price or 'greenness'. It's about reliability, in which case the Seagate Barraduda ES.2 wins.
Samsung HDD 1GB? Oh dear.. Even though I'm a Korean, I've never recommand Samsung HDD. I think Seagate 1GB 7200.11/32MB is a little batter then all the others.
Mate, If you're looking for a reliable 1GB storage device you're lookin at the wrong page, you wanna visit ebay and look for 1GB flash drive... oh yeah and try readin the article before posting
