There’s too many iPod docks already out there and it’s sometimes hard to tell the difference, or even dredge up the interest, to cover another one.

The iCoral iPod dock though differentiates itself, not so much by the two-tone wavy paint job, but by the fact that the German maker, Copulare, wants you to shell out £1,200 for it. Why, you might ask? And rightly so. Apart from the trippy 1960s swirls and the addition of an S-Video and USB port alongside the typical stereo ports, there’s nothing to distinguish this from any other fashionable dock. Oh, it does have cone feet to 'reduce resonance'.

Maybe what’s under the hood is worth all the cash but there’s no real detail on that. Well, at least it uses real coral in that dimpled surface, which makes it very different indeed and worth the extra cash. Ah, not exactly.

Your £1,200 has just bought you the best in ‘artificial coral’. If you're still looking for a ridiculously priced iPod dock, then check out Krell's iPod Dock, a snip at just £1,350.-Martin Lynch
