I’m a recent convert to rechargeable batteries but I usually forget to keep them charged. I could probably do with something like this portable Freeloader Battery Charger, which recharges batteries from a USB slot, to keep on top of the job.
It claims to be the world’s smallest and lightest but, since I haven’t seen all of the others out there, I’ll put that down to creative marketing.

I have a uniross USB battery charger.
It's ever so slightly longer and weighs 110 grams. It comes with 4 AAA batteries and is compatible with AA.
Plus it was only seven quid from play.com.
Or you could just buy batteries that can be charged straight from USB?

I thought of the USBCell straight away. Surely that counts as smaller!
Do batteries charge faster from USB 2.0 than they do from USB 1.1?
The USBCell AA cell only holds 1300 mAh which is OK for something that runs for more than a days on one set of battery's but less attractive for a camera/GPS etc.
There are other chargers like this around that weigh the same. Nothing special about this one.
Recommend Uniross Hybrios for long storage life without discharge.
