This is the MonoTracer motorbike, designed to reduce drag, keep you dry and drastically reduce the number of splattered insects on your visor.

The futuristic looking ‘enclosed’ motorcycle is not a concept anymore, but the real deal with a 130hp BMW engine capable of 0-100kph is under 5 seconds and a top speed of around 250kph. The company boasts that the bike has extremely low drag and ‘sensationally low CO2 exhaust emissions’.

Great, but where are you supposed to put your feet when you have to stop at the traffic lights or crawl through rush-hour traffic? Ah, it has wheels on the side that deploy to manage the whole balancing bit - see below. Hmm. Personally, I’m not sure they’d deploy fast enough for tricky inner-city riding. Here are some of the specs:

Performance 96 KW at 8750 rpm
Max. torque 117 Nm at 6000 rpm
Top speed > 250 km/h
Acceleration 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds
Consumption ISO 7118 3.62l/100 km
CO2 emissions 85 g/km

The MonoTracer, built by Peraves, is certainly a novel take on the motorbike and as long as you have around £41,000, you can have one. More shots below.-Martin Lynch

That's a weird looking motorbike. Don't think the world is ready for it yet IMO!

Peraves have been building these under the name of Eco Mobil for years and years.

They're very expensive though, and this new one is way overdue. Apparently they're a dream to ride (drive?), handle really well and are fast and comfortable. I'd love to have one.

Looks like a motorbike thats needs a whole car parking space, sweet idea untill you want to park it

It's like the movie Akira. Only in a crappy white colour.

I bet you will have sensational crashes once you run out of lean angle... The body is just about to scrape by the rear wheel and I lean further than that on a 700lb cruiser!
