wii fit fat guy.jpg The major UK online stores have sold out of Wii Fit, the new fitness bundle from Nintendo, a week before it’s actually due to arrive.

Considering that it’s not officially due to go sale until next Friday (April 25), that’s some achievement. Play.com ran out earlier this month.

We know that Wii Fit madness has already gripped Japan in recent months but it seems that UK consumers are also champing at the bit for the balance board/software combo. Here’s what the gang at videogaming247.com discovered:

Play.com - “We are currently sold out on this item. All orders will be dispatched as soon as possible.”
Amazon.co.uk - “Availability: Sign up to be notified when this item becomes available.”
Game.co.uk - “Please note: Due to massive demand we cannot take any further pre-orders on Wii Fit at the present time.”
Shopto.net - “Pre-order temporarily stopped.”
Zavvi.co.uk - “Sorry, Wii fit is temporarily out of stock, please check again soon.”

Nintendo, however, maintains that if you seek, then you shall find. It’s just a matter of finding the right retailer, you know, the one no one else knows about.

For most people though, if you haven’t already pre-ordered Wii Fit then forget using it next week to get thinner and healthier. You’ll just have to go back to 12 hours of World Of Warcraft-a-day, complete with the Beer ‘n Snickers diet, like the rest of us. The way computers games were meant to be :)-Martin Lynch
