sunview pmp projector.jpg There's a big push in the projector market to make the King Of The Big Picture really, really small.

At the forefront of this is Texas Instruments, which created DLP projection technology, and has made a projection device small enough for use in a mobile phone-sized product. See it working here.

Now though, on the other side of the planet, we have a PMP that boasts projector functionality.

Sunlink International and iView have taken the wraps off the SunView PMP Projector (PMPP) at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair. It looks like, and is, a PMP with a 3.5in display but is also capable of beaming out a 53in wide image with a VGA resolution of 640 x 480.

Since this handheld device measures just 13.3 x 7.9 x 2.5cm, it could prove very popular for just about any business/entertainment/party function.

The player has a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, SD Card slot and runs Microsoft Windows CE 5.0 core with Office Viewer thrown in.

It’s available very soon - in Hong Kong first – but no news yet on price.-Martin Lynch

This is the only way I see mobile phones getting smaller and the displays getting bigger. I reckon a little flip up non-lcd display-surface on the fone for portable use combined with different magnification settings would be a better use of the overall bulk/size of the phone. This would allow for a bigger battery for instance and more internal gadgetry like Wi-fi etc. The list goes on....
