The popular Grand Theft Auto games have often been overshadowed by silly in-game sex scandals but the latest incarnation, Grand Theft Auto IV, looks set to rewrite the gaming handbook.

The gangster game from Rockstar Games, which goes on sale worldwide tomorrow, is already being hailed as ‘Game Of The Year’ by many of the leading games sites and magazines.

A quick scan shows that sites including IGN, IGN UK, Eurogamer, GameSpy, GamePro, Team Xbox, Game Informer, Official Xbox Magazine UK and VideoGamer, among others, have all given the game 100%. Right now, thousands across the UK are just starting to build up a sweat with Wii Fit, which launched last week, so home pole dancing might be a bit a of stretch.

In a statement., the company said:

“In response to recent speculation, we are pleased to confirm that Peekaboo is in talks to develop a game for the Nintendo Wii that meets mainstream demand for the fun and fitness benefits of pole dancing."
