Apple has updated its iMac computers with new Intel processors and what it calls ‘the most powerful graphics ever in an iMac’.
The new iMacs now come with faster Intel Core 2 Duo processors across the line, up to 3.06GHz, and up to 2GB of memory standard in most models. The top end iMac with its impressive 24in LCD display also boasts an optional GeForce 8800 GS graphics processor alongside a 2.8GHz Intel Core Duo chip. The 24in model, with 320GB hard disk and ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO with 256MB GDDR3 memory, costs £1,150.
The entry-level model sports a 20in display, 1GB of Dram, a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with a 1066 MHz front-side bus and a 250GB HDD for £799.

Great Machines
too bad that current Macs (that is - since they use Intel chips) outdate just as quickly as any other PC computer out there (that is after about six months if you look at Intel timeline for new releases). The problem is that because of this sexy looking slim body they are not really upgradeable (as opposed to 'regular - non-mac PC', in which you can swap pretty much anything provided you have a decent motherboard) I know it is easy to comment, but I thing they should figure this out somehow because even the relatively well-off customers are not going to spend over US$2000 each year so they stay up to date...
Regarding Apples new iMacs, its great news that they are now even faster but it makes the Mac Mini look even more lame. It does look like its going to be dropped or a radical change. Personally I like the Mac Mini but it just need more power/storage or to be even cheaper.
What is the point of putting in an 8800GS when there are so few games (and no really demanding ones) released for mac?
It's called Bootcamp, have you heard of it?
I'm SO buying on of these. They just need to be cheaper -.-. Lol, but yeah, awesome specs, though, I do agree with Jon, there isn't a lot of point, even though you could install Windows, but then you might as well just get a PC... though, they do have a deal with EA, and I do think in the future Macs will have a lot more games.
EMZ=]
Precisely, bootcamp. But even so there's still quake wars and call of duty 4 out for the mac, those are fairly demanding.
