Things are getting even more cut-throat in the low-end phone market with Asda announcing that it’s going to sell mobile phones for just £5.
The Wal-Mart owned supermarket chain is going to flog 50,000 handsets for £5 when bought with a £10 top-up. The phones go on sale today from 9am and include four handsets from the likes of Nokia and Sagem. Asda is no stranger to flogging things really cheaply: remember the £9 DVD players and PS2s for £50?.

The offer is not on great handsets, and with the £10 top up meaning that the spend is £15.00.
Other sites like CPW routinely have this type of offer.
you don't have to buy a top-up with it, it's just a fiver.
@ andy; yes you do, that is what "£5 when bought with a £10 top-up" means
Asda should do the own tarriff to go with their fiver phones and then take over oranges's network.
Simon - "The offer is not on great handsets", come on mate, £5!! What do you expect!!
Matt - pwned.
