Disney is entering the robotic toy marketplace and the WALL-E robot from Pixar’s new animated movie will be heading the charge.

Disney is teaming up with WowWee and Thinkway Toys to bring WALL-E to life. The Ultimate WALL-E will have:

10 motors for lots of movement possibilities; a remote control, for programming myriad movements and behaviours; and sensors that'll allow him to respond to his environment in numerous ways, including obstacle, sound, and touch detection.

Sony’s opting for some minimalist styling with its latest home cinema offering, the Bravia DAV-F200 2.1 sound system.

Black, shiny and skinny, the new system brings a surprising 405W of hearing damage, spread in 135W chunks between the two small speakers and slinky subwoofer. As is now becoming more common, Sony believes its virtual surround will satisfy movie lovers, using its S-Force Front Surround technology to create ‘enveloping, rich and detailed virtual surround effects without the need for speakers all around the room’.

fondue set.jpg We have all made 'gadget purchasing errors', for want of a better phrase, in our time but just what are the worst gadgets in the nation?

A pool of 4,500 UK consumers surveyed by revoo.com has revealed just what we believe are the most pointless gadgets of all. Facial tanners, yoghurt makers and egg slicers are all in there but nowhere near the top.

Chris Winstanley, spokesman for reevoo.com said:

"Some gadgets are really useful but this poll proves that many of them end up being a waste of money. Reading genuine reviews can tell you if a gadget or gizmo is likely to be the best thing you ever bought or something that gets stuck in a cupboard and forgotten about within a week."

BBC iPlayer Now On TV April 30, 2008

virgin media.jpg BBC’s insanely successful iPlayer service will today become available on TVs for 3.5m Virgin Media customers.

This is the first TV service in the UK to get access to iPlayer and will allow those viewers to catch-up on up to 350 hours of missed BBC TV programmes from the past week.

I can’t count the number of times I’ve viciously yanked the earphones cord from my MP3 player or laptop, usually by forgetting it was there and sadly, those rare occasions when my embarrassing dancing gets just too wild and freaky.

Either way, it’s cost me money. Now, a little company called Replug has introduced a little £10 widget that will allow me to indulge my amnesia and dance dangerously all of the time without wrecking my gadgets.
