Summer appears to be upon us, so it’s time to hit the high street to try and buy a pair of sunglasses that don’t make you look like a reject from a Wacaday audition.

A pair of Oakley’s might be nice, and if you’ve found it all but impossible to combine gadgets with style in the past you might want to take a look at its Split Thump glasses with built-in MP3 player.

It’s totally hidden and doesn’t appear to affect the design at all, which would be a first for these sorts of devices.

You’ll find a USB port to load tunes on via your computer and they’re available in 1GB and 2GB capacities for (wait for it) £164.99 or £255. How exactly it could justify charging £90 extra for another gigabyte when you can pick up a 1GB microSD card for about £3 now is beyond us.

The InEyeWear website can not only hook you up with a pair of these, but allow you to ‘try them on’, along with any of the rest of the designer range, using its Revolutioneyes service.

It’s a flash-based tool that allows you to upload your own picture to the site, then select from any of the range of sunglasses on offer before fitting them to your face.

You can adjust the size of the picture, the size of the glasses or rotate them to fit, and if so inclined can even print out the finished article to get a second opinion.

Check it out for yourself and let us know what you think. – Paul Lester
