Even if you don’t consider yourself an environmentally conscious ‘green’ sort, it’s unlikely you’d pass up the opportunity to save a few bob.

For most of the readers of this site it’s likely that electrical appliances are responsible for the bulk of energy bills, in which case a new innovation from remote manufacturer OneForAll is here to help.

Its new ‘Energy Saver’ remote control comes with a special power plug through which you’re supposed to attach all the appliances you’d like turned off at night or when not in use.

ps2.jpg I realise that consoles are moving on these days to HD what-not but I’m still somewhat pleased to see that the wonderful PS2 is still punching well above its weight.

According to the latest sales figures from Sony, the PS2 is still outselling the PS3. PS3 sales topped 9.2 million for fiscal 2008 but the PS2 – despite weaker sales – still managed to sell 13.7 million units. This is down by almost 1 million units on fiscal 2007 but still a massive sales achievement.

In software terms, the PS2 is still a goldmine with sales of 154 million units, down almost 40 million on 2007, but still triple those for all the other PlayStation platforms.

hannsg 28in.jpg I’m not sure how big a monitor you need on your desk but if 17in or 19in models are no longer doing it for you, then take a peek at this 28in monster from HANNSG.

This is the 28in Widescreen HG281DJ, sporting 1080p support with a 1920 x 1200 WUXGA resolution. Considering it will be just a couple of feet from your face, you’re really not going to get a much bigger desktop viewing experience. There’s a HDMI port for simple hooking up of HD sources like players or consoles, alongside more traditional monitor connections like VGA and, less traditional ones, like Component.

Shocking PS3 Advert (NSFW) May 14, 2008

ps3 ad.jpg There are many ways to sell a PS3. Better games, reducing the price and even overpriced adverts and posters. Some of the commercials are fun, some dumb and others downright odd but on some level they make the PS3 a desirable object. They also justify the lives of ad men.

This one though from ad firm, TBWA\Vienna, in Austria has to be the most disturbing one yet and will no doubt make some of you want to hurl your breakfast across the room. OK, now while a photo of a guy with a six-pack may not seem like the most disturbing ad picture ever created, you’ll have to jump to see the full shot.

I’m warning you now though that this is probably not safe for work (NSFW) - OK, definitely NSFW - and, on a personal note, I feel this poster brings a whole new meaning to the term ‘thumb-stick’.

You have been warned. -Martin Lynch

The problem with most modern camcorders is that they’re just too damned big to be carried around comfortably all day. What you really need is a very small portable video camera that’s as easy to carry around as a mobile phone but offers better video capture.

Creative has just launched its Vado Pocket Video Cam, targeting the YouTube generation. Weighing less than 90g (3oz), it takes 640 x 480 resolution video and saves it onto 2GB of internal Flash memory. It’s somewhat like The Flip portable vidcam, currently only shipping in the US.

Vado comes with a 2in LCD to see what you’re shooting and is bundled with the software you’ll need to upload your vids quickly to YouTube or Photobucket.
