Even if you don’t consider yourself an environmentally conscious ‘green’ sort, it’s unlikely you’d pass up the opportunity to save a few bob.

For most of the readers of this site it’s likely that electrical appliances are responsible for the bulk of energy bills, in which case a new innovation from remote manufacturer OneForAll is here to help.

Its new ‘Energy Saver’ remote control comes with a special power plug through which you’re supposed to attach all the appliances you’d like turned off at night or when not in use.

The remote control is pre-programmed to control the plug, meaning you can turn everything off or back on again at the press of a button offering an energy saving of around 90%. For the more technically minded this could represent 74.34 kilowatts per year or 44kg of carbon dioxide.

The remote itself comes with all the usual bells and whistles, can control up to four devices and is future-proof in that it can be wirelessly upgraded with any new devices over the Internet.

You can pick one up from the end of May for £39.99 from major stockists like Dixons and John Lewis. – Paul Lester

No, it isn't. Standby saver is the dragon's den one

Its just a remote controlled socket which loads of people have been selling for ages (except the standby saver claims to use zero power (100% saving).
