Guitar Hero would certainly be a popular addition to most people’s console line-up.

Even if you don’t have a musical bone in your body you can still enjoy the competitive elements of the game married with the responsive guitar-shaped controller.

Those who are a little more musically minded have in the past bemoaned the lack of flexibility on the part of the title, something which rival Rock Band has investigated further.

The good news then is that Guitar Hero IV will remedy the situation somewhat by allowing people to create their own songs, name them, create album art then upload to the Guitar Hero servers where other players from around the world can download them. Unfortunately you can’t customise the vocals due to some sort of copyright issues but is seems like a fun addition regardless.

To prevent gamers from recreating parodies of ‘My Old Man’s a Dustman’ with a couple of old saucepans and a wooden spoon, a ratings system will be in place where you’re restricted to uploading five songs unless the ones you do add are scored highly enough by other users.

In addition to this there are new instruments confirmed for the title, which include drums, vocals and bass guitar. Guitar Hero IV should be available for all good consoles (and the PS3) in the run up to Christmas. - Paul Lester

This all sounds like a good idea but I still can't beleive that the full band kit is going to be a big hit. Maybe in a family home where you have enough kids to mount the instruments but what with the prices being so high for the full kit I can't imagine anyone that doesnt own their own business rushing out to buy it.

I like how you say "all good consoles (and the PS3)".

Thanks

Hmm, this is all waell and good, but i think my money is on rock band to kick GH4 ass.
I mean rock band = harmonix, which equals quality and attention to detail and mixing and mastering.
GH now = Activition, who put more effort into finding a new way to put that stupid eyeball logo into an intro than making a good game.
GH£ is soooo badly finished, especialy in battle modes, so imagin how terrible a rushed GH4 with more instruments will sound! UGH, i cant bear the thought.

J - perhaps learn to type before criticising. Activision are awesome; the GH series has been phenomenal.

Peter - fortunately they are going to sell a guitar and software version for people that don't want the drums + mic, although they don't sell a software and drums version, I guess they wouldn't because it's called guitar hero :P

I can't imagine the game being too rushed J as they have put alot of ideas into the game to make it better than Rock Band, like the music maker thingy and the advanced drum set, that all takes time to make and refine. If they did rush it and make a half ass job of it, people wouldn't be happy with it and just not buy it because they wouldn't work or break, people would just go to their rival, Rock Band.
