nike wifi.jpg Nike has been doing a lot to update the humble art of running around. The Nike Sports Kit introduced smart trainers to work with your iPods and most recently, we had the funky Nike+ SportBand wristwatch.

Today, we have the Wi-Fi Nike Dunks, a pair of trainers designed to help you find those free Wi-Fi hotspots, or, those wireless connections belonging to other people but which you plan to tune into anyway.

Designed by MSTRPLN and Ubiq, these sneakers are cleverly named “A Step in the Right Direction,” and sport 3 LEDs on the flap that light up the closer you get to a Wi-Fi signal. All 3 lights on means you’re within 50m of a viable hotspot. Let’s hope they’re waterproof.

Not as cool as the Wi-Fi T-Shirt.-Martin Lynch
