We’ve seen some funky looking high-end gaming rigs in the past from companies like Dell, Savrow and of course, Alienware, all of which pride themselves on rather over-the-top designs.
A new line from Acer threatens to trump the lot, at least in terms of appearance, following the release of its new Predator range.
We think it looks like a cross between the Transformer that drew the short straw and a futuristic lawnmower, but there’s no doubt that it certainly makes an impact. The Predator boasts a metallic copper coloured housing, some sharp lines and a ‘flip-up’ front cover reminiscent of the wing-doors on Ferraris.
There’s a Blu-Ray drive built in, easy-swap hard drive bay at the bottom and Dual LAN technology for blistering speeds.
The gaming system is pretty customisable, though by default incorporates an Intel Core2 Extreme quad-core processor and choice of SLI graphics configurations up to nForce G9800GX2.
To keep all of this stuff from melting all over the floor Acer has developed a liquid cooling system that guarantees safe operation even after overclocking, and is rated for over five years of continuous operation without pump failure or coolant evaporation.
Prices start at 1699 euros (about £1350) up to 3999 euros (£3,200) for the highest spec and it’s expected to beat its way into stores in June. – Paul Lester

WHOA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That sings to me..... Far to expensive to justify a purchase, but....
"I'd buy that for a dollar"
NO side window, Oh dear :(
A case (mind the pun) of if its practical or not, and its not!
In the right picture it looks like its tiny arms are holding up a door that it's going to use to squash some small creatures. And look at its grin as it prepares to squash the vermin!
It looks like it's trying to transform!
who cares if there is a side window, thats like watching the inside of a oven work while it cooks your chicken. get a life.
whats more, majority of normal people in this world, store their computers in areas where a side window is just useless, let alone pointless, and beyond the fact that having one is just pure sad!
You're an idiot. You're the sad one that can't except that other people like to be able to see their hardware work as well as check to see if it is operating correctly -- i.e. fans are functioning when they should be.
You're both idiots.
I agree I think arguing about such a pointless thing is just really rather sad.
It doesn't have fans you twat, it's liquid cooled!!!
Brilliant comment thread :)
It has fans and liquid cooling. nubs?
And this why the world is going to Hell in a handbasket ...
