sony 8gb m2.jpg Sony has launched the first 8GB Memory Stick Micro(M2) card, doubling the capacity from the existing 4GB version.

If you own a Sony Ericsson blower then, that means you can store 5,000 5-megapixel (MP) photos, over 2000 MP3 songs at 128kbps or over 88 hours of MPEG 4 video at 192kbps.

That's as long as you don't mind watching them on a teenie weenie screen.

Still 8GB is so much better than 4GB. That said, Sony's behind the gang on this front since others like SanDisk have been offering 8GB M2 cards for some time now. Will Sony's be cheaper then? Is that gales of laughter I hear from the Gizmodo aisles?

Along with the smaller 2GB and 4GB cards, Sony's summer promotion will be offering buyers a free WAP download of the full version of Gameloft's Brain Challenge 2.-Martin Lynch
