Next time you can't find your glasses, want to complain that your missus hasn't left you any food or are just wondering about when the Internet started, call the cops.
In a novel approach to dealing with the public, Avon & Somerset police has started posting up some of the most stupid calls they receive on YouTube in an effort to discourage the public from wasting their time. Avon & Somerset received more than 8,400 hoax or nuisance calls last year and you really have to commend their manners when dealing with some of the following.
Above is the call from one shitfaced lady who's decided she really needs to know when the Internet started, when what she really needs is to step away from the phone and pass out gracefully. Other classics include the caller who's lost her glasses and needs them to peel potatoes for her lunch, the one about the injured pigeon and the guy complaining about how the crappy bus service in his area made his feet sore from having to walk.
Chief Superintendent Dave Hayler of Avon and Somerset Police told The Telegragh:
"What could seem a harmless joke could result in a serious criminal conviction or endanger someone's life. "Wasting the time of the emergency services could cost lives because the emergency services might not be available to respond to real emergencies if they are attending hoax calls."
I wonder if they'd know what happened to my missing ham sandwich, lost - or stolen - from my living room around 2003? Probably not worth the £5,000 fine though.-Martin Lynch
Some people are just stupid... I'm sorry there's no other word for it. Drunk or not if you think that a 'college questionnaire' warrants taking up the time and resources of the emergency services then you need your head looking at.

The reason he doesn't hang up on her is that the stupid woman would just call back again and again until it was explained to her. Better to try to explain to her on her first call, and leave all the other emergency operators free to deal with real emergencies.
I know this woman... I used to work as a DJ on Galaxy 101 (now Kiss), a radio station covering south wales and the west. She used to phone in all the time. It goes without saying that all the presenters took the micky! Soemwhere I've got recordings, and she even sent in a photo of herself - not nice I can assure you!
