Well, here it is: the G1. The great white/black/pink hope of iPhone haters and Google's first foray into the cut-throat world of phone operating systems, with its Android OS.
The HTC-made GI has officially been announced by T-Mobile in the US, where it will start shipping on Oct 22. It will then be making its way over here in November, 'free' on a £40 per month contract with unlimited mobile Internet browsing.
It has a touchscreen display, built-in accelerometer, a QWERTY keyboard, a trackball for one-handed navigation and access to a whole lot of Net-based apps like Google Maps Street View, Gmail and YouTube. One of the coolest apps so far is...
